Climbers should be able to hike 5–8 hours daily over uneven terrain while carrying a light pack on the trek. For summit day, be prepared for a strenuous 12+ day of climbing with steep snow climbing and fixed lines. Previous experience using crampons is required, and we will train with fixed lines and cramponing technique at Everest Base Camp as well. The climb will involve sections of steep snow but most of the climb is on moderate snow slopes.

DAY 1
Arrive in Kathmandu
Please make sure your flights arrive no later than the evening of March 15th!
DAY 2
Group Briefing, Gear Check & Helicopter Flight to Lukla – Trek to Phakding
We'll spend the morning going over the trip, checking gear, and adjusting to jet lag. We arrange for flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, avoiding the 5 hour drive and uncertainty with the typical airplane flight to Lukla from Ramechap Airport! This is one of the major benefits of trekking with Skyline; we save time and risk of delaying the trip by going directly to Lukla from Kathmandu. We'll trek to our first village when we arrive in Lukla: Phakding.

Beautiful vilage with nice lodges.

Dingboche Acclimatization Hike
More beautiful views of Lhotse on this hike.

Trek to Lobuche
Great views of Lobuche to see conditions there!

Trek to Everest Base Camp
We make it to Everest Base Camp! We spend 2 nights in EBC, which is unique to Skyline! Most other base camp treks don't get to sleep in EBC!

Climbing Training around EBC
We'll go over crampon technique, ice climbing, and roped travel.
DAY 13
Trek to Lobuche high camp
Get in position to climb Lobuche.
DAY 14
Summit Day!
We'll plan to climb to the summit of Lobuche East, weather permitting!
DAY 15
Contingency day
We build in contingency days in the event of poor weather to give us a better chance of summiting.
