Colton grew up in Iowa, where he discovered a love for rock climbing on the few short but steep limestone cliffs hidden deep in the woods. Between Iowa and Utah—and through travels around the globe—he honed his craft and climbed at the 5.13 level across multiple disciplines. With a lifelong passion for sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for mountain sports, Colton spent nearly a decade coaching climbers to reach their highest potential, helping several achieve success at the elite levels of competition climbing. Adventures eventually brought him west to Washington, where he now devotes most of his time to exploring the vast opportunities for climbing and skiing in the Cascades. Colton believes the mountains bring out the best in people. As a mountain guide, he strives to maintain a patient and welcoming approach, fostering an environment where others can discover joy, confidence, and connection in the outdoors. When he’s not guiding, Colton can be found adventuring with his partner and two stepchildren—on bike, ski, or foot—sharing those same values as a family.
