Dawa Tenzing Sherpa was born in the heart of the Himalaya, in the small high-altitude village of Kisibook, tucked beneath Ama Dablam, one of Dawa’s favorite peaks. With 12 summits of Everest and 9 summits of Ama Dablam, Dawa is widely recognized as one of the strongest climbers in Nepal. His physical strength is matched only by his infectious smile, easygoing nature, and calm presence in the mountains. Dawa is a lead instructor at the Khumbu Climbing Center, an organization dedicated to teaching Sherpa guides modern, safe climbing and guiding techniques. Beyond his impressive resume, Dawa is known for being strong, kind, safe, patient, and an excellent communicator with great English—the kind of guide everyone feels lucky to climb with.
