About
Eli grew up in California where he first learned to climb on the big walls of Yosemite Valley while still in high school. He began his guiding career in 2018, then moved to Bellingham, WA where he balanced guiding with studying philosophy and mathematics. He continues this line of study today as a philosophy graduate student and university lecturer. Climbing in all disciplines, Eli is just as comfortable on the steep frozen waterfalls of the Canadian Rockies as he is on long alpine rock climbs, establishing new routes deep in the Alaska Range, or clipping bolts at the sport crag. He believes the mountains are one of the richest classroom environments. He has guided four Denali expeditions and loves guiding in the Cascades for their unmatched alpine terrain. He aims to develop in his students the technical skills, judgment, and confidence that opens the door for a lifetime of climbing experiences.
