Growing up in Minnesota, I was not exposed to mountains until after graduating from undergrad, when I moved to Montana to immerse myself in wilderness.   Living there, I learned how to rock climb, backcountry ski, and bushwhack. After starting my guiding career in Montana, I moved to the PNW and now split my year between Bend, Oregon, and the North Cascades.  My approach to guiding is directly in line with the Skyline guiding principle.  I want to meet people where they are and help foster a sense of mentorship in the mountains. For me, climbing is an expression of self through athleticism and creativity.  It’s a way to connect with people, to share something pure and indelible.  Climbing is self-discovery.
