About
Matt grew up in New England, where he spent winters ski racing and summers sailing, before discovering climbing in college. After earning a degree in engineering and working in the building energy field for several years, he transitioned to full-time guiding in Colorado. Over the past decade, he has climbed extensively across the U.S. and internationally, with experience in places like Patagonia, Alaska, and throughout the American West. He is an AMGA Certified Rock Guide, apprentice alpine and ski guide, and AIARE avalanche instructor. Matt is now based in the Pacific Northwest, having traded up for bigger mountains and new terrain. He previously worked as the Director of Outdoor Programs and Assistant Head Coach at ABC Kids Climbing in Boulder, where he helped athletes train for competitions and apply their skills to “real” rock. He enjoys long, moderate multipitch routes and big days in the mountains, and when he’s not guiding, you’ll likely find him underbiking his gravel bike or trying to perfect the cold morning/scorching afternoon mountain attire.
