Previous experience with crampons, self-arrest, and basic glacier travel is reccomended. Guides will refine steep snow and ice climbing skills. Be prepared for a couple hundred foot section of 50 degree snow depending on the conditions. Reach out about a snow training day the day before if you haven't used crampons before.

Altitude

Above 11,000 feet, altitude effects can occur. A gradual approach and proper hydration help ensure a strong summit day. Normally, climbers will feel the altitude for the last 1000 feet to the summit or so but altitude sickness rarely occurs.

DAY 1
Optional Training Day
We practice using our crampons and ice axe, as well as practicing the rope systems that we'll use on summit day.
DAY 2
Summit Day
We begin our climb from the historic Timberline Lodge, hiking up a groomed trail to 8,500 feet. From there the terrain continuously steepens until reaching the final 500 feet to the summit where we rope up and climb to the top.
