Fitness
Climbers should be in good physical condition and able to hike for several hours while carrying a 35–45 lb pack. Training with uphill hikes, stair climbs, or weighted walks helps build endurance for the ascent to camp and summit. A basic understanding of and fitness for rock climbing is also helpful on the summit pyramid. Visiting your local climbing gym a number of times before getting to the mountain can prove quite helpful.

How heavy is my pack?
Plan for 30–40 lb including personal gear, shared group items, water, and food to camp.
What boots do I need?
Mountaineering boots (half to full shank) compatible with crampons (typically semi-automatic). We’ll send a gear list and rental options if needed.
What if the weather turns?
Safety first. Guides may adjust route, timing, or turn around. A summit is never guaranteed; a great experience is.

How tough is summit day?
Expect 8–12+ hours round-trip from camp with steady pacing, breaks, glacier travel at moderate angles, and a rock ridge climb for the final 600 feet. Earlier in the season we can forgo the ridge and access the summit via a steep snow gully.
