Overview

What your adventure involves

What your Adventure involves

Mountaineering, Elevated
This climb is suitable for beginners with good fitness as well as intermediate climbers looking to build glacier experience — with a level of comfort and personal attention beyond our standard trips. The ascent involves moderate snow and ice travel with crampons and ice axes, roped team movement, and steady elevation gain over multiple days.
The Most Accessible Line on the Mountain
The Easton Glacier is the most popular and straightforward route on Mount Baker, known for its gradual slopes and consistent terrain. The route ascends the mountain's southern flank, offering a clear line to the summit with fewer technical challenges than other approaches.
A 2:1 Guide Ratio
With twice the guiding attention of a standard climb, you'll get more individualized coaching, faster problem-solving, and a genuinely personalized experience from trailhead to summit.
Real Meals, Your Own Tent
Porter support means you sleep in your own private tent each night, and enjoy real cooked meals in camp instead of freeze-dried fare — comfort that makes a real difference after a long day on the mountain.
A Celebration Worth Remembering
Cap off your summit with a special celebration in camp, plus a complimentary Skyline shirt to take home — because reaching the top deserves more than a quick high-five.

Altitude

At 10,781 feet, Mount Baker’s summit is high enough for some climbers to feel mild altitude effects such as shortness of breath or fatigue. Staying hydrated, moving at a steady pace, and spending a night at high camp helps your body adjust comfortably to the elevation.

Itinerary

Trip Itinerary

DAY 1
Approach & Camp
The group meets at the Sedro-Woolley Ranger Station at 8AM. Our guides will meet you for introductions, some Leave No Trace tips, group gear distribution, and personal gear check. Then, we will drive for approximately one hour to the trailhead at Schreibers Meadow (3,200 ft) and begin our hike to Sandy Camp near the edge of the Easton Glacier (6,500 ft). Our porter support means you're free to move light while your gear — including your own private tent — is carried in for you. Once we reach camp, we will establish our tents, teach lessons on crampon and ice axe arrest and rope travel training, before sitting down to a real, freshly cooked dinner and heading to bed.
DAY 2
Summit Day
The summit climb! Our day begins with a hearty breakfast and hot drinks just before sunrise. We then begin climbing up from camp. The Easton Glacier is a fun, moderate snow climb where we will use our cramponing, ice axe, and rope travel skills as we climb past crevasses. With a 2:1 guide ratio, you'll get close coaching and encouragement every step of the way. After enjoying the views and summit congratulations, we retrace our steps back to camp — where a special celebration awaits to mark the achievement, along with another real cooked meal and a relaxing evening watching the sunset.
DAY 3
Descent and Celebration
Wake up with the sun and enjoy a nice breakfast and coffee together, recounting the powerful experience the team shared on summit day. We then hike back to the trailhead from our camp and savor the views of Baker as we make our way down. The hike down normally takes between 2-3 hours. We generally arrive back at the town of Sedro-Woolley by early afternoon, where teams oftentimes choose to get lunch together to celebrate their climb. Each climber goes home with a complimentary Skyline shirt as a keepsake of the trip. If you're considering booking a flight after the trip, make sure to book it after 7PM to ensure you have enough time to make it to the airport.

FAQ's

FAQ's

What makes this different from the standard Mt. Baker climb?

The route and skills taught are the same world-class Easton Glacier experience — the VIP Climb adds a 2:1 guide ratio, porter-supported private tents, real cooked meals in camp, a complimentary Skyline shirt, and a special celebration after summit day.

Will I still have to carry a heavy pack?

No — porter support means your pack will be significantly lighter than on our standard trips, since your gear and personal tent are carried in for you.

Do I need prior glacier experience?

No. This is a great first glacier climb. We'll teach the fundamentals before and during the ascent.

What boots do I need?

Mountaineering boots (half to full shank) compatible with crampons (typically semi-automatic). We’ll send a gear list and rental options if needed.

Can I rent technical gear?

Yes—crampons, ice axe, harness, helmet are available. Request during booking.

What if the weather turns?

Safety first. Guides may adjust route, timing, or turn around. A summit is never guaranteed; a great experience is.
