DAY 1
Arrive in Mochi
Please have your flights arrive no later than the evening of Jan 21, 2026.
DAY 2
Group Briefing & Gear Check
We will organize our gear, meet our porter team, and adjust to jet lag.
DAY 3
Drive to Machame Gate, Climb to Machame Camp (9,780 ft / 2,980 m)
We will start our climb! We'll drive over to the National Park entrance (5,380 ft / 1,800 m) and begin treking through the rainforest. Our destination is Machame Camp (9,780 ft / 2,980 m).
DAY 4
Climb to New Shira Camp (12,600 ft / 3,840 m)
Today's trek takes you up a steep trail through savannah covered in tall grasses, volcanic rock formations, and bearded heather. Our destination for the night is New Shira Camp (12,600 ft / 3,840 m).
DAY 5
Climb to Lava Tower (15,190 ft / 4,630 m) & Barranco Camp (12,960 ft / 3,950 m)
A great day of acclimitization as we climb to over 15,000 ft to access the pass at the Lava Tower. Here we will stop for lunch before descending past waterfalls and creeks (feeding the headwaters of the Umbwe River) to our next camp for the night - Barranco Camp (12,960 ft / 3,950 m).
DAY 6
Climb to Karanga Camp (13,255 ft / 4,040 m)
To get our legs warmed up we will start the morning by climbing the Barranco wall. We will spend the rest of the trek climbing up and down the slopes of the mountain most of the way into our next camp - Karanga Camp (13,255 ft / 4,040 m).
DAY 7
Climb to Barafu Camp (14,930 ft / 4,550 m)
Today we travel mostly on a moraine and lava ridge, with stunning views of Mawenzi Peak towering to the right and Kibo peak overhead. We will arrive at Barafu Camp (14,930 ft / 4,550 m) and turn in early, as tomorrow will be our biggest day yet.
DAY 8
Summit Day! (19,341 ft / 5,895 m) Descend to Mweka Camp
We will dig deep today and push towards the summit! If our conditoining and the mountain allows, we will arive at the summit. There is still a lot of mountain to descend, we will head down hill and arrive at Mweka Camp (10,170 ft / 3,100 m) for a well earned night of sleep.
DAY 9
Hike Out / Contingency Summit Day
Say goodbye to the mountain and let gravity carry us downhill to Mweka Gate. Take ground transport back to Moshi where a hot shower and dinner await.
DAY 10
Contingency Day / Departure Day
We will spend the day in Moshi, celebrating the climb with the porter team. This is also a contingency day depending on the descent from the summit. Please do not schedule flights home any earlier than the evening of Jan 30th!
