FAQ's
FAQ's
Do I need prior climbing experience?
Some outdoor climbing experience and the ability to belay a lead climber are recommended, but no prior alpine climbing experience is necessary. This trip is an excellent first step into alpine rock climbing, and our guides will coach you through every aspect of the day — from approach hiking to rope systems and movement on exposed terrain.
Can I customize the trip length and objectives?
Absolutely! This trip can be tailored from 1 to 3 days depending on your schedule and goals. Your guide will work with you to select objectives that match your experience level and interests — whether that's a single summit scramble, a multi-pitch route like the Green Creek Arete, or a multi-day exploration of several peaks in the range.
When is the best time to go?
Summer is the prime season for the Twin Sisters Range, typically July through September. This window offers the most stable weather, dry rock conditions, and long daylight hours for full days in the alpine.
What should I bring?
"We'll provide all technical climbing gear including ropes, harnesses, and helmets. You should bring sturdy approach shoes or hiking boots, weather-appropriate layers, sun protection, food, and water. A detailed gear list will be provided upon booking.
What makes climbing in the Twin Sisters Range special?
The Twin Sisters are home to incredibly solid and sticky rock that makes for confident, enjoyable movement. Combine that with a remote alpine setting, very few crowds, and sweeping views of Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan, and the Salish Sea, and you've got a wonderful climbing experiences.
Is this a good preparation trip for bigger objectives?
Definitely. The Twin Sisters Range is an ideal stepping stone for climbers looking to build toward longer alpine routes and bigger mountains. You'll develop skills in multi-pitch systems, exposed terrain movement, route-finding, and efficiency in the alpine — all of which translate directly to objectives like the North Cascades classics and beyond.
